The Story Behind Son Of Bob:
My father started his company, Bob Joseph Electrical Contractors Inc. in 1968 with one van and an unprecedented work ethic to build his company to what it is today. Besides his old school unstoppable work ethic the thing I remember most about my father was his amazing sense of humor. When he started out there was a popular TV show called "What's My Line" which he changed to "Watts My Line" as a tag line for his company. He had shirts made up with "Watts My Line" on the front and the company information on the back. Growing up, whenever I was working with him, people recognized "Watts My Line" on the front of my shirt from the show and they would ask me to turn around so they could see the back. When they saw it was an electrical company they would burst into laughter and ask for a card. When my father passed away 2 years ago I decided I wanted to honor him and carry on his legacy by starting my own company the way he did. I spent weeks trying to come up with a name he would love, which encompassed both the hard work ethic that was instilled in me as a child and his sense of humor. It came to me one day while I was thinking of him and it just clicked. I remembered when I would get discouraged about something as a kid he would say, "you can do anything you put your mind to, you're my son after all!” Then I said to my self, “That's right I am the son of Bob!” When I wrote it down and noticed the initials were S.O.B. I started cracking up and knew he would love it, so yes I'm a real S.O.B. (Son Of Bob, that is!) When you need a job done right you definitely need a real S.O.B. to get it done for you!
