American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia

We are the certifying body for veterinary (animal) specialists in anesthesia and analgesia (pain management). We provide expertise to the veterinary profession as teachers, researchers, and practising clinical veterinarians. We work on all species of animals from small animals such as dogs and cats, to farm animals such as horses and cattle and pigs, to zoo and wildlife, to lab animals such as rabbits and rodents and primates. We are the organization whose members train veterinarians to become experts in this area of veterinary medicine, and we are the organization that certifies who has the skills to be called "specialists". Our members investigate new drugs and treatments in the areas of veterinary anesthesia, perioperative medicine and pain management, and provide education to the public, veterinarians, and technicians. Our target audience is all of these groups.

We are looking to update our current logo that was originally designed in 1975. The current logo is meant to represent a stylized poppy, the plant that opium (and all morphine-like drugs) comes from. Whether we keep it or not is up to you, but we are open to new designs as well as those that incorporate this type of image.
