We are cancer researchers at Princeton University. We are looking for a cover art to accompany the publication of our research article in a scientific research journal (Cancer Cell). The cover art will be used to illustrate the main our scientific findings using an artistic analogy. The readers of this cover image are usually the scientists who have the background to understand the story behind this cover art.
Che cosa ti ispira e qual è la visione del design della tua attività?
Please refer to the uploaded sketch that uses the “Independence Day” analogy to our research findings. Our study reports a mechanism by which metastatic breast cancer in the bone become resistant to chemotherapy. We discovered that in response to chemotherapy, bone cells produce a protein called Jagged1, which protects cancers from death induced by chemotherapeutic agents. We developed a therapeutic antibody called 15D11, which is able to block Jagged1 and make the bone metastasis sensitive to chemotherapy.
In the cartoon, we would like to use the alien mother ship as the bone niche for metastatic cancer, and the protective shield represents Jagged1 that is induced by chemotherapy (activated by missile attack), and metastatic cancer cells are represented by alien fighter ships that are coming out to attacked. In the foreground of the images, we want to use a human fighter plane (e.g. F22 or F35 or F16) firing missiles (15D11) to disable the protective shield.
Please make sure that the digital files are large enough to fit the journal cover, which prints at 8 1/8 x 10 7/8 inches. In addition, it is helpful to add about 1/4 inch to each edge of the image to allow for cropping and to account for the spine. The file should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. We have included a template for your reference. This TIF file shows the exact layout of the cover, including the logo, trim lines, and spine width. You may wish to use this to help with your layout or to make sure that your images are sized correctly to fit the cover and spine. If you use the file, please do not flatten the layers, as we must be able to access your images without the text and logo, etc. You might also find it helpful to review past examples of Cancer Cell cover art and captions; these are available in the online archive at http://www.cell.com/cancer-cell/archive. Thank you for your kind help and we are excited to receive your designs！
