The book is an m/f multiverse romance novel set in a base world where magic once existed. Two physicists run an experiment designed to measure the frequencies of the strings that make up the fabric of existence and end up connecting with their counterparts in other universes.

There are 7 storylines playing out within the novel, all with the same characters but changed/impacted by the different universes in which they live. The Prime storyline is the framework within which the other stories are seen, and is slightly more advanced than our own world. 3 storylines are in contemporary settings, 2 in settings roughly equivalent to the 19th century, 1 in a medieval setting, and 1 in a post-apocalyptic setting
