Hawaii has 17 species of native honeycreepers (birds) found nowhere else in the world. Many are on the verge of extinction. Mosquitoes carry and transmit avian malaria, a deadly disease that is decimating populations. This project is working to save these species by using "mosquito birth control" to help reduce mosquitoes in the forests where the birds live.
