The design technique used here is negative space which allows the human brain to fill the gap between the dark shapes
The mascot here is a kind of mini detective who looks in front holding a magnifying glass in front of his eye to demonstrate the fact that we are going to review and investigate about video games. Its fun and non-aggressive look helps meet your goal of having a friendly and welcoming design. On the avatar's detective cap, we can see that the shape resembles a video game controller to subtly make the connection with this sector. The bow tie is also actually a controller and not a tie when you look closely.")
